Where Does Josh "Headband" Hagins' Performance Rank In The All Time March Madness Greats?
…
Easily the top performance of the opening day of March Madness*. Josh Headband Hagins singlehandedly, and I mean singlehandedly, carrying Arkansas Little-Rock to a win over Purdue. A team nobody had heard of, with a Community College head coach, that was down double digits virtually the entire game. Down 13 points with 3:19 left. And all he did was drop 31 points right on Purdue’s head with all their 7 footers. Oh and 7 boards, 6 assists and 5 steals, people forget that. First to top 30-5-5-5 in tournament history. Is that good?
I mean I don’t even care if he ended up with 3 points and 0 other stats. This shot will forever be included right at the beginning of iconic March Madness shots.
Onions.
“That’s been the knock on me. There are times when you can really question my shot selection,” said Hagins. “But I’ve always been confident in myself. That’s the bottom line. I don’t care who we’re playing against. I always think I’m better. Maybe too much sometimes. But I have an inner belief.” [DP]
*Ok I guess that Makai kid on Yale might have something to say about that. But I had more fun watching Headband.
PS,
His Twitter handle is fitting for how I felt after watching that 30 foot three pointer.
PPS,
That was unfair of me to say “single-handedly” so many times. Gotta at least give one pinky finger of that hand to this floppy haired Lil Dicky looking motherfucker and his biggggg time corner 3. Albeit with a shooter’s bounce.
